Quantum - The opportunities of risk, the risks of opportunity

Quantum computing is presented as a risk to our data and infrastructure, with the increasingly imminent promise of being able to “break” all current encryption algorithms. We will look at how to protect ourselves from this risk and implement a replacement and security strategy.

For business, quantum computing represents an opportunity equivalent to AI. This opportunity comes with risks that are easy to forget or overlook. After Shadow IT and Shadow AI, Shadow Quantum is upon us, and it is up to us to tame this new dragon.

Didier Cotton is Director of Security and Governance at PINQ2 and also manages infrastructure, including an IBM quantum computer and a CPU/GPU computing platform.

He holds an MBA from Laval University, a bachelor’s degree in computer science from UQO, and CISSP and CISM certifications. He has been working in IT for over 20 years and in security for over 5 years.
